THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Anonymous User Data.
Through Google Analytics, our web servers automatically collect limited information about your computer's connection to the Internet, including your IP address, when you visit our site. (Your IP address is a number that lets computers attached to the Internet know where to send you data -- such as the web pages you view.) Your IP address does not identify you personally to us. We use this information to analyze trends and the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. CSJ does not provide this information to third parties, though Google, Inc. has access as the provider of the data.
You do not have to disclose any personally-identifying information (such as your name or email address) to use most of the features of our websites. The only personally-identifying information that CSJ gathers through the websites is information that you voluntarily provide to us. If you do provide us with your name, email address, phone number and/or other personally-identifying information when you use our website to join a discussion or request information (such as through the Newsletter Signup, Join the Discussion, Join the Mission, Contact Us, SoCon Updates and Blog Comments pages), we may use your personally-identifying information to send you a response and we may keep a record of your request or inquiry. You will also have the ability to specifically request future e-mail contact from us regarding our conferences, programs and website. We will tell you what information is required (i.e., name, email address, etc.) at the time it is requested.
Information submitted as part of a contact submission are kept only until a response is given. “Join the Mission” and “Join the Discussion” submissions will cause your e-mail address to be included in a CSJ mailing list which may be used to send e-mail regarding CSJ programs, updates, invitations, and a variety of other CJS-related e-mail. “SoCon Update” submissions are stored in a database for similar use, and “Newsletter Signups” are additionally stored in a separate database in order to provide the requested newsletters.
CSJ has provided an “opt-out” option for each submission, which will allow you to opt-out of the above lists. If you choose to opt-out, no personally-indentifying information will be retained.
Visitors under the age of 13 must obtain permission from their parents or guardians before sending any personally-identifying information.
USE AND DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION
We will not generally disclose personally-identifying information collected through our website to third parties. We reserve the right to release personally-identifying information about our website visitors when we believe that such disclosure is necessary or appropriate to comply with law or to protect the safety or property of CSJ, visitors to our site, the public and/or our personnel. We also reserve the right to disclose personally-identifying information about our website visitors to third-party contractors we engage to assist us with the operation of our website or other aspects of our business when our contractors need access to such information to perform the services we request.
